Our History
Founded by patriarch Philip Belz (1904 – 2000) in the early 1940s on a four-acre tract in north Memphis, the company’s first project was construction of several of the city’s first large industrial buildings. Belz, a leader in Memphis, Tennessee, is one of the South’s largest commercial developers and contractors with interests throughout the Mid-South and much of the country.
As a pioneer in the design + build philosophy, Belz started offering its in-house design and construction services to clients outside of its own real estate portfolio in 2003 and the Belz Architecture+Construction that we know today was formed. Since then, Belz Architecture + Construction has grown steadily to become one of the nation’s leading providers of the fully integrated design-build approach – the ultimate in efficiency and value.
